Baby Sabine: 2 months

I'm a bad Auntie, I didn't introduce my new niece when she was first born. I can't believe I'm actually an Aunt to a beautiful baby girl. She's so gorgeous, I miss her so much when I think about her, it's weird considering I have three kids to tend to 24/7. She's already 3 months old and I just want to photograph her all the time it's so sad that they live so far away. Soon they will be moving from Saskatoon to Calgary which I'm sure the whole family is looking forward to.

Here are some pictures from her two month session at her Grammie's house in Calgary.

Second Shooter for Dan Wood

I got to help out Dan for a wedding he had in January. It was nice to be able to repay him the favor for helping me out when I was 8 and a half months pregnant and shooting a wedding last year. He came along to help me in case I needed a break or if I went into labor early. For this particular wedding, I mostly took pictures of the bride getting ready, and was there to help out for the rest of the day doing things like helping with details in the posing etc. It turned out to be a wickedly windy day, and super cold to boot, so we got to be inside at Dan's studio that he uses for harsh weather as a back-up plan, which I must say is nice to have. Here are some of the pictures that I grabbed. Note: The Getting Ready Image-- Brides always do this:) It's a guarantee and with a serious face, I think it's priceless!

Meghan and Justin: Wedding

This has been a long time coming but it's being posted to the blog now which I'm thrilled to be sharing these with you. Meghan and Justin's wedding from September 2008. I had to throw in the picture of their son at the reception. He's so adorable after having been rested and fed;)

Zachary is ONE!

Here's Zachary! Just turned one in December, back for his one year pictures. I didn't think he could get any cuter from when he was a new born but holy cow, I think his eyes got more sparkly! It was a challenge to get him to show me his teeth, but once he started he didn't want to stop. Thanks for having me out to your place Erin, he is going to be a little heart breaker!

For those of you who may have heard rumors or if you were wondering, I'm taking 6 months off. That means I will be back in action June '09. I'm hoping to make some changes to help streamline the biz. I do have a waiting list of people to call when I'm back, so don't hesitate to email me if you would like for me to call you in June. Summer time pictures are the most beautiful in the whole world! (in my opinion) My time off will be nice to spend some extra QT with my cuties but I'm not just doing this for me, I'm doing this for you too, it's going to be great! Stay tuned.

Welcome to the World Olivia

This little ball of cuteness was born on Nov.11, and still looks newborn at 2 and a half weeks old. Her parents traveled from Norman Wells, Northwest Territories to have her in Edmonton, and then from Edson to have her photographed by me. What a treat for me to meet her, and she's so alert as you can tell by the family photo. Thanks for coming all this way Michael and Sabrina it was so worth it! Also thanks to Carla Babiuk, who used to live in Drayton but now lives in Norman Wells, for telling them about me :)

Kendra + Rick = Engaged!

Despite the super cold weather, I had so much fun photographing these guys. Kendra emailed me about their session saying they had some silly cat in the hat shirts they wanted to wear for a few shots. Immediately the old Dairy King in town came to my mind. The owner was so kind and even let us warm up inside. I know it doesn't look cold judging by these images, but really it felt like it was the coldest session I've done. I was glad to have found one mitten in my van. We had tons of fun, and I think Kendra saw about 3 people she knew drive by during this:) Congratulations on your engagement Rick and Kendra, and good luck with all the planning etc! And thanks for letting me be creative with your session. Off to pay my fine.

Nadine and Ryan = Baby Tucker

This little guy is a perfect mixture of both mom and dad. We were planning an outdoor session, and we were planning on doing it NO MATTER WHAT! I really love how "Christmassy" the outside ones are with the falling snow! Luckily for us it wasn't even that cold. Cutie Pies

When you've got two super little girly girls, you get a super cute little family! We decided to do an indoor session for this one, because it's getting soooo chilly outside. We ended up having so much fun that I stayed for 2 hours. I got to play around a lot with Hannah, the big sister, while waiting for the baby to wake up from her beauty nap. I loved it! Of course it helps that Hannah is such a ham in front of the camera and wanted to show off all of her dance outfits, and perform her dance skills. She's gonna be a rock star when she gets older. By the time Baby Peyton woke up, she was smiley and happy as can be. She sits up all by herself, and she's the same age as my baby Vaughn almost, only a few days apart. We ended up being able to go outside as well for a family picture, which made baby Peyton less smiley due to the chilly conditions. I love how they all turned out. Here are several from the session. One Big Happy Rowley Family

Here's another session that I photographed before my holiday. This was about the last day that there were fall leaves still around. Good thing I got out there when I did, or there might not have been any left. You might remember the kids from previous posts on my blog, I've done pictures for them a few times now and it gets more fun everytime! Aiden was having his birthday pictures this time, so I got to spend a few minutes playing with him in the woods on their beautiful land. So, yes I'm back in town and I have a session to share from a month ago. These guys have waited ever so patiently while I went to Vegas, with their session posted with no password. But I love the pictures, so I hope it was worth the wait. Here are a few from their session, we went to the Omniplex to start to shoot in the fall foliage and also to a back alley to get some "urban" scenery also known as the "ghetto". Thanks Christa and family for hiring me, it was super fun!

This will be the last post till the end of October. Glen is competing again in the World Long Drive Competition for his second time in Mesquite, Nevada, which is 1 hour from Vegas baby! So I'm hoping to hit up Vegas a couple of times to go shopping. Should be fun. Here are some sneak peaks for you Jenna, before I leave for two weeks.
If you want to hear a heart wrenching story, this little guy was in open heart surgery 3 weeks before I took his picture. What an amazing little trooper! Jaxon is a brave little man that is for sure. He braved the cold more than I did I think. I thought for sure we'd have to shut it down and go inside when to my surprise, Jaxon sucked it up and let me photograph him like a champ! I had such a great time, these guys were up for anything, and even thought to bring Jared's sweet hot rod for some shots.

I thought I would share the email that Jenna sent me after the session, it really made my day:

"We had the best time with you on Sunday. It was such a wonderful experience. We both felt so comfortable with you and that always is a huge thing when you are getting your photos taken. Your an amazing photographer and really put your soul into your work. I could tell that once you spent that couple hours with us. Sweet Baby Girl

I can't believe I just about forgot to post some from this session. I was just so quick getting the proofs ready for her, that I didn't blog anything from it. We ended up staying inside for most of this session, it was chilly outside for pictures. I'm always so happy when mom's can be talked in to being in a few of the pictures, it's just so fun to see the baby light up with mom, and mom's hardly ever get pictures of themselves with their babies, because typically mom's are the one's taking the pictures. So, if you have a session with me in the future, be prepared for me to ask you if I can photograph you as well:) Thanks Jen, your daughter is a total darling!

It just dawned on me this morning while getting these ready for my blog, that these little kids are blonde blonde while their parents are brunettes. Interesting, and then their Grandma is Blonde blonde too. So cute! Brother and Sister Challenge

It's always a challenge to get a toddler to sit with an older sibling, I suppose even harder with a younger sibling. With an older one though, you risk them giving up and their smile "hurts" after a while. I think I managed to sneak a few from these two cuties. This little guy sure is model material, and loves to show off his beautiful smile:) They're both way too cute, and can get away with anything! Thanks Tanis and your mother for giving Tracy this gift. It was a pleasure meeting you Tracy and I hope that you love these pictures as much as I do.

What a cute little boy and cute mom & dad too. It was so cold out the morning of this session, that we only got about 40 minutes to photograph. We focused more on getting a really cool family shot, and just a few of the little guy by himself, he was a real trooper. Thank-you Krista for having me do your family portraits! I sing praises to Jen Winter because she is the one who helped my business take off. She encouraged me to start my business and also sent me tons of referrals. I can't thank her enough! So here are the sneak peaks she's been waiting so patiently for. Thanks For having me photograph your wonderful family Jen and Chris. The kiddos were super fun, although a challenge, so cute, I couldn't not post one of your little guy and the ladybug. Finding a lady bug is a good way to get toddlers to stop for two seconds, and this little guy kept getting the shivers thinking it was on him when it wasn't. I don't think that his dad telling him it's going to eat him had anything to do with it:)

I don't know if you can tell in these pictures, but these girls kept smiling for their mom, but not for me. As I was sorting through the pictures, they'd be looking away from the lens smiling and every time they are looking right at the camera, they have the most non-expressive look on their faces. I thought I was funny, but apparently these two don't think so. They only smile for their mom and dad, or actually if their mom or dad is holding them. It's always a pleasure to photograph these two little beautiful queens:) Thanks Tina for having me again!

Dalyce in the Fall

I can't get enough of her:) What a cutie, and she's talking like I can't believe now! It makes it really fun to photograph her now that she can talk to me. About a month ago she used to say the odd thing but now she says everything! Shay and Lorne, she's a darling, and I can't wait for the next one! She'll be such a great big sister, teaching the baby all her little sneaky tricks. You just wait:)

Whoa Dog!

This is not an exaggeration, this is a large dog. Wow, and such a nice dog too, he's just a big baby. I'm actually kind of afraid of dogs, but recently I've been able to interact with dogs and photograph them with the help of Sherry the owner of Scruffy's Dog Grooming in Drayton Valley. I just love seeing the personality in all of these images with Brucie, the gentle St. Bernard. He is well loved and a pleasure to be around! Scruffy's does an incredible job on keeping this dog well groomed too, I couldn't keep from petting him:)

Arianna: A Cute 1 Year Old:)

Cute stuff Arianna! I drive myself crazy trying to get toddlers to look at me, let alone smile at me. Usually if they are smiling it's because mom is standing behind me and they happened to discover something new and looked at their mom excitedly. I can dance on my head, yell, scream, do whatever, and there comes a point in every session, that the one-year-old kid just won't look at me anymore. I try to leave before this happens, but sometimes I can't resist trying for one more:)

Poor kittens;) She loves them so much, and they were adorable for the pictures. I could see the fear in their eyes when they saw her coming. She's so adorable.

Amanda & Chad: September 6, 2008

Some people might recognize this great looking couple from an engagement shoot I posted on Flickr a while back, the couple that I led into the woods to an old abandoned house, only to be savaged by nasty fleas. I thought seeing these guys again, would bring back bad memories of that, but it didn't even cross my mind. I couldn't help but be so excited for the two of them to be married, and they looked amazing! Thanks Amanda and Chad for having me again, even after what I put you through. I had so much fun, and I can't wait for our next session;)

August 30, 2008 Wedding: Trisha and Doug

This ceremony took place at the Devonian gardens, and yes it was beautiful. Awesome to photograph, surrounded by beautiful landscapes especially in the Japanese Gardens!

It was such a unique and beautiful wedding with a Japanese theme. They also had a ring exchange with their son Darris, which I cried during. Darris got a really cool custom ring from his parents, it's the one with the shark. It was really nice along with that, they did a butterfly release which turned out really cool.

Although I don't do receptions I had a blast at Trisha and Doug's reception, and they did as well, riding in on mini dirt bikes. It was hilarious. They got a really great DJ, who made the party super fun, Doug had to wear a sombrero, and colourful Mexican shirt sleeves and everyboby made a line behind him and the whole place was following Doug. It was priceless. Thank-you so much Doug and Trisha, for having me photograph your wedding. It was as much fun as it looks:)

Here are a few from last night's session with the Flett's. I really enjoy it when people let me photograph their children one on one. That way I get to talk with person, and see what they really think and feel without mom or dad watching. It's incredible when you can photograph someone totally relaxed. It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get:)

I got to photograph these kids a couple of years ago, and we had a good time then too. It's so nice to see what fun kids they've become:) Keep up the good work guys! What a great family. Thanks for having me over to your beautiful home and to your private golf course;)

The House That Rob Built: Family Session

You don't see it here, but this session was at the most beautiful log home that Rob, the guy with the beard, and the family helped build. It is a totally gorgeous location! Their daughter had her wedding there as well. I asked Rob how he knew how to do all of it without Google. Can you believe he read a few books to figure it out?

There were so many awesome places to take pictures, I was smiling on the way home:) What a great family, and so much fun to photograph! I got invited to stay longer, because apparently no one tells Rob what to do, but I did. Sometimes I love that about my job, bossing people around, and they actually do it. I've only had one guy say "no", I guess I crossed his line.

New Born: Sadie

This is Dalyce's new cousin Sadie. What a pleasure it was meeting these guys, I think I stayed too long for my baby's liking. But I had a really good time chatting with Sadie's parents. Sadie is super long just like Dalyce was when she was littler. It will be fun to see this little girl grow up, just as it has been fun to see Dalyce. And always fun to hear their Grandma's joy from the pictures afterwards:)

Wedding: Karrie and Richard

Oh happy day! I cried during this ceremony. They are so in love! There are so many beautiful pictures to share and so little time for uploading:) It was a fantastic day on the 16th nice and hot, and the ceremony was beautiful! I love when people get married in a place that has meaning to them, this was at Karrie's parents yard, which is a beautiful place, they have lots of nice flowers and the sky was awesome.

I had so much fun photographing all the little guys, by the time we got around to doing family pictures of Karrie, Richard and baby, he was all tuckered out, so we had to improvise, I think it turned out adorable.

Emerson: The Three and a Half Month Baby Girl:)

I'm really surprised at how much babies are alike within the first year of their lives. They have the same mannerisms. I used to think it was silly that people would tell me the exact age of their child to the week. But now that I have my own children, I understand, and sometimes I want to know exactly how old kids are by their birth date just out of curiousity.

Little Emerson, like most 3 month babies, is sooo smiley in the morning first thing when she wakes up. So I got there a few minutes before she woke up so I could easily capture those toothless smiles for mom. I personally love the ones with less smile more eyes, but I know why moms love the smiles, because there's something so amazing about a new baby smiling and you never want to forget those precious moments:)

Lexxannah: She's ONE!

This baby girl recently had her birthday on a great day! July 1st. Which is also our anniversary. She's already talking and copying everything anyone says. I was amazed, her favorite words while I was there were "catch" and "pup". So cute:) She was so good and actually liked getting her picture taken that I might have to take back what I said about 1 year olds.

Her dad put that tiny clip in her hair, and I must say it was darling:)

Addison: THE ONE YEAR OLD

You know how some people will say that boys are harder to parent when they are little, and girls are harder to parent when they are older? I used to sort of believe it, but I've met some pretty busy little girls lately. These mom's have their work cut out for them. I think all mom's have their work cut out for them:D Check out this session with Mamie, Addison and Aiden. The first thing Addison did was fall on her nose and scraped it really badly, so in all of these shots, I fixed her nose. Other than that, we had a fun time observing Addison doing her thing, going straight for the puddles in her patent pink shoes, always going in the opposite direction we wanted her to, and totally ignoring me after the first 6 shots. 1 year olds are the BEST! I don't think they really get it yet:)

Hunter

What is up with super smiley babies? Some moms are so lucky to have such amazingly easy babies. I guess I can't really complain, I've got it pretty good too:) Today I had the pleasure of doing Hunter's pictures, along with my kids being home, it went really well considering. The neighbour helped out and welcomed Ryker to their house, and Eric just watched the whole process, showing off here and there by jumping off the bed. Anyway, Hunter would smile at anything, it was super fun! We attempted to go outside but it was just too sunny, cold and windy and Hunter didn't like it out there. He seemed like he was exhausted by the end of it. Being cute just isn't easy.

Tucker

This little guy is cute overload! He must get his cuteness from his mom, because she's super cute too.

So I got lost on my way to the session. I'm the worst at writing down directions. Either way I managed to find the place. They live in an area I've never been to, and it is actually a beautiful drive and they have some really nice land, that hopefully will turn into a fun place for the family to dirt bike on.

You can never predict what these little guys are going to do during a session, Tucker decided to have a nap during, and so we let him sleep and we got to chat. Then I continued on with his session once he awoke and he was somewhat refreshed.

I can't wait to see these printed, and I can't wait to see Tucker again for another session!

Dalyce Turns Two

This session was so much fun! We met at my house and then drove around to several different locations which worked well for Dalyce because she is very busy, and loves to go go go! She's not your typical little girl. We even went to the Brick to ride the pony and then near the tennis courts to what turned out to be a very cute spontaneous family picture. This girl has some of the cutest outfits I've ever seen and everytime they come, dad's always complaining about the wardrobe change. He secretly loves how cute she looks in every outfit though!
Oh and I can't forget their dog Flea, who also had his debut because Lorne is thinking of getting his face tattooed on him, so I got a shot for that too, probably not the one seen here.

I forgot to bring a water bottle, so we went to the Dairy King for a break, and her dad bought us all drinks, which by the way were very tasty! Thanks for the fun session Shay, Lorne and Dalyce!

Baby Grady

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Grady, Trisha and Chris's baby boy! First thing Trisha said to me was that he doesn't like being naked and he doesn't sleep much. So she had a heated blanket all warmed up and I put it to good use and he didn't want to wake up the whole time and didn't mind being undressed. I'm only posting a few sneak peaks because I'm not sure what the plan is as far as announcements go, and I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise of it:) So here are a few.

The Weir Family

Baby Alex won't stay little for long, he eats like a champ! He was eating when I arrived and eating when I left. I had such a good time with these guys. I really didn't want to leave, but Alex was very politely telling me he was hungry, as you can see in the image with the teddy bear.

When I got home to my own little guy I almost didn't recognize him because he's getting sooo big. I'm really enjoying being a mom to three, for some reason it works well for me:)

I got to see a glimpse into my own future with this family:) Three boys and totally outnumbered, luckily these guys were pretty tame from what I could tell. Teenagers are so much fun, and are they ever more cooperative than a toddler as far as pictures go.

It was so nice to be able to plan a session where the people actually stayed in the frame. So hopefully this session leads to more like it. I love the images and really like the family. They have a great relationship, just a pleasure to be around. Sorry for making you late Greg;) I had tons of fun joking around with you guys, I hope the peg leg gets better soon. Welcome to my new blog. Instead of posting on Flickr I will be posting photos from sessions on this blog. Exciting, I know!

The latest session was with Trisha, who is scheduled for a cessarian sometime this week I'm guessing. I'm also guessing she's having a girl but I'll soon find out and it will soon be posted here along with their newborn photos which will be a real treat!
